19th century school, "Scène animée et église sur la côte" la - Lot 205
19th century school, "Scène animée et église sur la côte" large oil on canvas signed and dated lower left "J. Noël 1860" Dim. 149x252 cm (missing, restored and lined). In a molded wooden frame Dim. 161x263 cm. This painting can be compared with the artistic output of the painter Jules Achille Noël (1815-1881), not least because of several features common to his style. Known for his marine scenes and coastal landscapes, particularly those of Brittany and Normandy, Noël is distinguished by his mastery of light and maritime atmospheres. The themes explored in this painting, as well as the attention paid to the details of natural elements and everyday life by the sea, recall the essence of Noël's works, which combine artistic sensitivity and poetic realism.
