A rare and imposing cylinder desk entirely inlaid on all sid - Lot 208
A rare and imposing cylinder desk entirely inlaid on all sides, inspired by the famous model designed by Jean-François Oeben and completed by Jean-Henri Riesener for King Louis XV at Versailles. Its refined decoration features a floral marquetry of great finesse, enhanced by extensive ormolu ornamentation, embellished with female busts, putti and cassolettes. The desk opens on the front with five drawers, including a drawer in the waistband and four box drawers. Its cylinder conceals a flower-inlaid top, revealing an interior of seven drawers and three niches. 20th century Dimensions: H. 160 x W. 165 x D. 92 cm.
