Luigi del Giudice (circa 1777 - 1811. Naples), miniaturist painter at the Capodimonte royal porcelain factory. Fine gouache on paper - a vue 23x28cm (32x36), late 18th century / early 19th century. Shepherd and wife from the village of Mondealdiero Province of Terama ( Monte Aldiero). Shepherd and his wife at rest. Magnificent watercolors depicting the inhabitants of various mountain villages in the Abruzzo and Molise regions of Italy, east of Rome. The finesse of execution and richness of tone clearly attribute these gouaches to Luigi del Giudice, whose manner on porcelain is also evident on paper - the themes were brilliantly exploited by Vincenzo Aloja (1786-1815) until the early 19th century. These subjects were later given to engraving and collected as early as 1818 by F Damame Démartrais in his collection of costumes from the Kingdom of Naples - coaster - pair. Expert : Sébastien Hoyer
